John Michael was one of Little Miami’s most versatile athletes. While wearing a Panther uniform, he set records in both basketball and baseball. In 1966, he broke the single game scoring record twice for Panther basketball, scoring 39 points in one game. He is one of Little Miami’s Top Ten leading season scorers in basketball and was named all-county baseball player his junior and senior years. John was a four-year varsity letter winner in baseball and started as a freshman, batting .400 that year. After graduation, he attended Miami University before signing to play professional baseball for the Washington Senators, where he spent six seasons as a third baseman and shortstop. John has continued to be a vital supporter of the Little Miami community and especially the Village of Maineville, where he has been mayor and was the first inductee into the Village of Maineville Hall of Fame.
