Kickoff: 7 p.m. Eastern.
The Preview: As high school football programs across the State of Ohio gear up for Week 3 action this Friday, one thing is becoming clear: the identity of each team is starting to take shape in the 2025 season. In Morrow, that identity is beginning to shift — and for the better.
Under new head coach Nate Mahon, the Little Miami Panthers are trending upward. Expectations are changing, and the Panthers are showing a new level of competitiveness that was missing in recent years. In 2024, Little Miami often found itself on the wrong side of lopsided scores and second-half running clocks. This season, these Panthers are playing with grit, confidence, and the belief that they can compete with anyone.
In Week 1, the Panthers were massive underdogs in their trip to Jackson. Yet they battled until the final minutes, driving late in the fourth quarter with a chance to win before a costly turnover led to a narrow one-score loss (21-14).
Last Friday, in their home opener against Turpin, Panther Stadium had more of a Kings Island vibe than a typical Friday night football atmosphere — filled with energy, excitement, and unexpected thrills. The game kicked off with Turpin fumbling the opening kickoff, giving Little Miami the ball at the Spartans' 28-yard line. Just five plays later, quarterback Camden Fox punched it in from a yard out on a QB sneak to give the Panthers an early 7-0 lead.
Turpin would respond before the first quarter ended. With 1:51 left in the opening frame, Spartans quarterback Luke Mileham ran a QB lead from an empty 3x2 formation and slipped through the Panther defense for a 17-yard touchdown to tie the game at 7-7.
Mileham added a second score midway through the second quarter, this time on a 9-yard zone read keeper, giving Turpin a 14-7 lead they would hold until late in the contest.
Fast-forward to the final minutes: with Turpin clinging to a 19-14 lead and backed up at their own 3-yard line, Mileham mishandled a snap, giving Little Miami a golden opportunity. On second-and-7 from their own 18-yard line, quarterback Camden Fox found Kings' transfer RB Andrew Trapp leaking out of the backfield. Trapp darted through the middle seam, turned on the jets, and went 81-yards to the house, electrifying the home crowd and giving the Panthers a 22-19 lead with just 1:38 remaining. But the celebration was short-lived.
With under 90 seconds to play, Turpin methodically marched 65 yards down the field. With just 31 seconds left, senior running back Holden Gerth broke through the Panthers' defensive front for the go-ahead touchdown, sealing a 26-22 win for the Spartans and dropping Little Miami to 0-2 — despite another hard-fought performance.
Standout Performers: Camden Fox had a career night, completing 17 of 30 passes for 252 yards and two touchdowns. He added 41 yards and a TD on the ground. Fox's 252 passing yards mark a new personal best and the most by a Little Miami quarterback since Luke Brewsaugh threw for 337 yards in a 34-26 loss at Loveland in 2023.
Andrew Trapp carried the ball 9 times for 14 yards and caught 3 passes for 90 yards, including a career-long 81-yard touchdown, and Carter Stewart led all Panther receivers with 7 receptions for 102 yards.
