Whoa, Panthers! Three awesome photo galleries capturing last week's rivalry matchup action!!

MORROW -- Last week featured an action-packed lineup of LMHS winter sports matchups and the Panthers' play did not disappoint! If this past week was a taste of what's in store for the remainder of the 2024-25 OHSAA winter athletic season, buckle up Panther fans!

The home-court action started Wednesday night as second-year LMHS head wrestling coach Paul Winker led the Panthers in a home dual match with Warren County and ECC rival Lebanon. The atmosphere in the Panther Athletic Center was electric, and we all witnessed some incredible wrestling on both Alumni and Youth Night. Below is a photo gallery taken by house photographer Doug McKinley which captures the intensity of the matchup!
On Thursday, the Little Miami Lady Panthers varsity basketball team welcomed rival Kings High School into the PAC and knocked off the Lady Knights 53-46 for their first win over the Knights since January 16, 2021. The Panthers victory snapped a five-game skid to the ECC foe, as Little Miami climbs to 2-2 overall and 1-1 in the Eastern Cincinnati Conference to kick off this young season. The winning effort was led by freshman newcomer F Avery Green, who came off the bench and exploded for 17 points to lead all scorers. Also contributing to the Panthers' win was senior guard Emma Hartmann, who scored in double-digits by chipping in 11. Lilah Dalraine scored 9, Mae Loffer added 7 and Tess Trimble logged 5. The Lady Panthers are back in action at home on Monday night when they host Walnut Hills at 7:30 PM.
And on Friday night, there wasn't a seat left available in The Gym, as head coach Scott Kerr and the Panther varsity boys' basketball team squared off with rival Kings in a game that could certainly be defined as an 'instant classic'! Quarter 1 was a slug-fest where both teams fought to find their footing, but in the Second Quarter, the visiting Knights could not miss. Kings outscored Little Miami 24-13 in the second and took a comfortable 39-24 lead into the halftime intermission. At halftime, Coach Kerr had only one message for his Cats ... "This is a defining point in this young season, and we're going to find out who we are! Are you going to fight, or are you going to lay down and let them take this from you?!?" The Panthers answered the challenge, and Little Miami roared back in the third as they outscored Kings 22-9 to tighten the game to 48-46 heading into the final stanza. The Knights were led by Myles Baker (28 points) and Tommy Clark (24 points) who outscored Little Miami 18-13 in the fourth and the Panthers ran out of time as Little Miami fell 66-59 and dropped to 1-2 on the season and 0-2 in the ECC. Kings climbs to 3-0 overall and 2-0 in The Conference. Little Miami was led by several incredible efforts including those of Carter Sellars, Case Miller, Ian Arthur, Jackson Reynolds, and Connor Istnick. The Panthers look to climb back above .500 next week when they host Walnut Hills on Tuesday and travel to Loveland on Friday.
