Senior Night: Little Miami welcomes Walnut Hills as both programs clawing for a Week 10 win

MORROW -- Kickoff: 7 p.m. Eastern.
Setting the scene: The Panthers prepare for their final game of the 2023 OHSAA football regular season when they host Walnut Hills (0-9) on Friday at LMHS Panther Stadium. Little Miami enters the matchup with an 0-9 record this season and is coming off a 41-20 setback to neighborhood rival Kings in Week 9.
The loss to Kings was highlighted by Knights' senior WR Nate Lyman's record-setting performance. Lyman set a single-game KHS school record with five TDs on 11 receptions for 231 yards. However, Little Miami didn't go down easy as the Panthers countered with two rushing TDs from Rhys Jones and Elisha Jones added his second receiving TD of the season, but that just wasn't enough to overcome three turnovers and unforgiving field position.
"This week, we must play with great effort and improved execution in all three phases of the game," said head coach Caleb Jones. "We'll continue to focus on basic football fundamentals and a simplified gameplan," Jones continued. "Both teams are fighting for a win, and we will not take Walnut lightly. It would be great to send this senior class out with a win."
The series: Little Miami leads 3-1, overall. The Panthers are 2-0 in Morrow, and 1-1 when playing the Eagles in Cincinnati.
The teams have only met four times since 2008, and Little Miami won the most recent matchup 24-24 last season at Walnut Hills. (2008: 34-19 Little Miami; 2009: 31-13, Little Miami; 2021: 27-21 Walnut Hills; 2022: 24-24 Little Miami.)
ECC Top 5: Entering the final week off the regular season, LMHS LB Rhys Jones leads The Conference with 101 tackles, and is trailed by Walnut Hills' Zion James at 100. Little Miami's Cody Neltner resides at No. 3 with 94 stops. Panthers WR Mitchell Lyon's continues to impress opposing defenses as he's accumulated 40 receptions for 751 yards and three TDs this season, trailing only Kings' Nate Lyman atop the ECC.
Congratulations seniors: The leadership and staff of Little Miami Schools congratulate all band, cheer, and football Class of 2024 seniors participating in their final home game at LMHS Panther Stadium on Senior Night.
Weather: Mostly cloudy with a 24-percent chance of precipitation and a daytime high of 62.
