Mercy Health Youth Night: Little Miami welcomes Kings in Warren County's backyard brawl

MORROW -- Kickoff: 7 p.m. Eastern.
Setting the scene: The Little Miami Panthers varsity football team enters a Week 9 neighborhood rivalry matchup as they host the Kings Knights on Youth Night presented by Mercy Health this Friday.
"I thought we gave great effort and competed until the final play last week against Loveland," said fifth-year head coach Caleb Jones. "Week 9 presents another great opportunity against a backyard rival. Kings is a good team, and we're sure they'll give us their best shot."
Last week in a Homecoming Game against Loveland, Little Miami struck first as QB Luke Brewsaugh connected with WR Matt Lyons for a 62-yard TD strike and the Panthers jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead over the visitors. However, Loveland countered by scoring 20 unanswered points to take a comfortable 20-6 lead in the second quarter. Then, Brewsaugh found pay dirt a second time in the half when senior WR Elisha Jones slipped free and snagged a Brewsaugh fastball for his first TD reception of the 2023 season, and tighten the score to 20-12 in favor of the Tigers. Then, just before halftime Loveland's Colton Endicott ripped off a 70-yard TD jaunt to extend the Loveland lead to 27-12 entering the intermission.
In the second half, Little Miami LB Rhys Jones checked in at RB and logged his first TD of the season on a 5-yard run, and Lyons added his second scoring catch of the game. However, Loveland's Endicott wouldn't go quietly and logged his third TD of the contest as the Tigers shut the door on the Panthers in a 34-26 final while climbing to 5-3 and dropping Little Miami to 0-8.
This week, Kings crosses the Little Miami River into Morrow with hopes of snapping a two-game skid. Last week at Lebanon, the host Warriors converted a 15-yard TD pass and added the 2-point conversion to knot the game at 14 with 1:59 remaining. In overtime, Lebanon's Dan Wallace found daylight and logged an 18-yard rushing TD to lift Lebanon over Kings 20-14 for their first win over the Knights since 2013.
Weather: Scattered showers with a 50-percent chance of precipitation and a daytime high of 75.
