Week 4: Panthers host Walnut Hills on First Responders and Military Appreciation Night

Little Miami motivated by Week 3 thriller, sets sights on Walnut Hills

MORROW -- Kickoff: 7 p.m. Eastern.
Special Invitation: This week's game is First Responders and Military Appreciation Night. We would like to issue a cordial invitation to any active or retired First Responders and Military members who are family of any student-athletes participating in varsity football or cheerleading, also including local police and fire personnel with hope that you'll join us by participating in honorary pregame activities. Please email Jordan Lanham to register at jlanham@lmsdoh.org or by calling 513-899-3781x20105. Admission is free into the game for these registrants, and attendee's should arrive at the Main Gate by 6:15 PM. The pregame schedule begins at 6:40 PM (See attached schedule).
Setting the scene: In Week 3, Little Miami traveled to Anderson High School for each team's ECC opener, and what ensued was an offensive explosion that resulted in 85 total points, 1060 combined offensive yards, and a 2-point conversion in overtime to lift the host Raptors over the Panthers 43-42.
"I thought our game plan was solid entering the game," said Little Miami head coach Caleb Jones. "I was proud of how we started the game, and when we faced adversity, the kids responded. This team had no quit, and they are really fun to coach.
"The final result is a tough one to accept, but we'll capitalize on the positives and clean up areas of opportunity before heading into Week 4 with Walnut Hills," Jones concluded.
OC Begley's offense is clicking: With three games already in the books this season, Little Miami ranks No. 3 in the ECC with 1264 offensive yards (421.3 YPG) and 113 points (37.3 PTS/G). The Panthers only trail Anderson by four points of offensive output.
DC Dan's 3-4 defense is dominating: Last week, Little Miami adapted well to the Raptors' empty and 10 personnel groupings by intermixing both man and zone coverage schemes. However, the Panthers most impressive defensive effort of the season came on an Anderson goalline stand late in the third quarter. The goal line stalemate proved Little Miami can come up big when called upon. The Panthers are currently ranked No. 3 overall in defensive production in the ECC, while only surrendering 156.3 YPG and 19.7 PTS/G leading into Week 4.
ECC individual leaders: Senior RB Ashton Middlekamp is ranked No. 2 in the ECC with 291 rushing yards and No. 3 in scoring with 7 TDs for 42 points. Middlekamp logged a career best 125 yards and 3 TDs at Anderson last week.
Junior WR Brayden Bischoff is No. 3 in The Conference with 311 receiving yards and 4 TDs. Bischoff 158 yards and 2 TDs against Talawanda in Week 2, and 99 yards and 2 additional TDs last week against the Raptors.
Senior QB Aidan Jones resides at No. 4 in The League with 698 yards of total offense. Jones has thrown 7 TDs so far this season, while also rushing for 3 of his own.
Currently, LM junior LB Marcus Jones leads the Panthers defense with 28 total tackles. While fellow LB Michael Cornett only trails Jones by one with 27 stops on the season.
20 American Flags for 20 years since Sept. 11, 2001: For this Week's game, there will be 20 American Flags mounted on the home bleachers to represent each passing year and the the memory of nearly 3000 people when the United States was forever changed by the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.
13 chairs: Just weeks ago, American resiliency was once again put to the test. As American troops worked to withdraw from their 20-year military presence in Afghanistan, our nation tragically lost 13 members of our military, including eleven Marines, one Navy corpsman, and one soldier in the effort to evacuate American citizens and allies.
The sacrifice of these brave troops solidifies the truth that the fight to protect our freedom is truly never free, and we've placed a seat at our table in their memory.
Tickets: Presale tickets are only available online at littlemiamipanthers.com. Students in grades K-12 are $6 (until 3 PM on Friday), and adults are $8. Online transaction fees apply. Tickets will also be available for cash purchase at the entry gate. Cash purchases are $8 for all ages.
Weather: It's starting to feel like fall. Sunny with a high of 82 degrees, and a 10-percent chance of precipitation.
