Track & Field: The Panthers are OHSAA Super Regional Runner's Up; several advance into the State Championship Meet this Weekend

MASON — History continues to be made by Little Miami's track and field program. Just weeks after capturing back-to-back conference championships for the first time since the 1970 and 1971 seasons, the Panthers added another milestone to an already memorable spring. The Little Miami boys' team finished as the OHSAA Division I Super Regional runner-up at Mason High School, the highest finish in program history.

The Panthers' success was fueled by three regional championships, including an individual title from sophomore Ian Patrick and relay victories in both the boys 4x800-meter relay and boys 4x400-meter relay. The girls program also added a runner-up finish and several state-qualifying performances.

Patrick delivered one of the day's signature performances, winning the boys 1,600 meters in 4:15.24 against one of the deepest distance fields in the state. His victory provided a major boost to Little Miami's historic team finish and continued a breakout postseason for the Panthers' rising distance star.

During the Super Regional semifinal round on May 28, Little Miami's boys 4x800 relay team of junior Ryne Reynolds, Patrick, and seniors Ethan Greenwood and Justin Evans captured the regional championship in 7:47.75. The winning time not only topped a field that included perennial Cincinnati powers St. Xavier and Moeller, but also stands as the fastest state-qualifying time in Ohio entering this weekend's Jesse Owens OHSAA Division I State Championships at The Ohio State University.

Little Miami wasn't finished.

In the final event of the meet, the Panthers' 4x400 relay team of Carson Cherry, Justin Evans, Jaqualon "JQ" Wayne and Ethan Greenwood delivered another championship performance, crossing the finish line in 3:19.43. Little Miami won the event by nearly four seconds over runner-up Moeller, putting an emphatic exclamation point on the evening.

Greenwood added to the Panthers' impressive day with a runner-up finish in the boys 400 meters, while Evans earned a podium spot of his own by placing third in the boys 800 meters with a time of 1:55.38.

On the girls side, sophomore Ellie Meade continued her outstanding postseason by finishing runner-up in the 800 meters in 2:15.91. Her performance highlighted another strong showing from Little Miami's distance program and secured one of the team's top individual finishes of the meet.

Senior Peyton Dews continued her stellar postseason campaign with two podium finishes. Dews placed fifth in the girls 400 meters in 57.71 seconds and added a third-place finish in the long jump with a leap of 17 feet, 6½ inches.

The Panthers' depth was on display throughout the competition.

Wayne delivered a Top 10 performance in the boys 400 meters, while Macallan Beerse contributed valuable team points with a fourth-place finish in the high jump at 6-foot-4. Little Miami also qualified its boys 4x200-meter relay team of Alex Jones, Cherry, Greenwood and Isaiah James, further demonstrating the program's strength across multiple events.

The performance reflected the balance that has defined the program throughout the season. Little Miami has emerged as one of Southwest Ohio's most complete teams, combining elite distance runners, talented sprinters and impactful field event athletes.

Now, the Panthers turn their attention to the biggest stage in Ohio high school track and field.

With regional championships, a historic runner-up team finish and multiple state qualifiers already secured, Little Miami will travel to Columbus carrying both momentum and confidence into the 2026 OHSAA Division I State Championships at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.
