MORROW -- The Little Miami boys and girls track and field teams got the 2022 season off to a cold and rainy start as they host a home tri-meet on Tuesday, March 29 featuring ECC foes Lebanon and Turpin, and a week later invited Bellbrook, Kings and Wilmington high schools to participate in their annual quad-meet competition.
The host Panthers boys and girls both claimed first place in the team standings during the tri-event. After 20 scored events, the Lady Panthers racked up 117 points, rival Lebanon followed with 64, and Turpin managed just 19. On the boys side of the action, Little Miami accumulated 100 points, Lebanon again followed with 84, and Turpin added 22 points.
In a water-logged quad event on Tuesday afternoon, the Little Miami girls again claimed gold as a team as they logged a meet-high 107.5 points in soggy conditions. Kings followed with 83, Bellbrook added 58, and Wilmington trailed closely in fourth with 55.5. For the boys, Kings claimed the 2022 quad title with 98.66 points, Wilmington added 90, Little Miami registered 60.5 with their star William Zegarski sidelined with an injury, and Bellbrook rounded out the action with 54.83 points.
"Although Mother Nature hasn't exactly cooperated this spring, we hope all participating athletes had fun and enjoyed participating in our early season events," said head coach
Eric Bond. "We'll certainly use these two meets as a measuring stick as we move into larger invitationals this season.
The Panthers don't get long to rest as they return to the track this week as they head to Clinton-Massie on Thursday to compete in the Falcon Relays, and follow that event up with the GMC vs. ECC Showdown at Sycamore High School on Friday night, of course, weather permitting.
And lastly, thank you to all the volunteers and parents that helped us make these first two events a success! Go Panthers!
