MASON — Just over five minutes into overtime last night, the Little Miami Lady Panthers varsity soccer team broke through as senior Emma Gausmann found daylight amidst heavy Mount Notre Dame traffic and buried a shot to lift the Panthers to victory. Her golden goal sealed a dramatic overtime win over No. 5 Mount Notre Dame and delivered Little Miami High School's first-ever OHSAA district championship.
"The middle of the field is where Emma is most comfortable, and that's the best place she could have been to take — and make — that goal," said head coach Dann Marketos.
With the historic win, the Lady Panthers advance to Round 3 of the OHSAA postseason, where they'll face familiar ECC rival No. 1 Anderson in the Division II Regional Semifinal at Wright State University on Tuesday, October 28, at 7 p.m.
