MORROW -- Kickoff: 7 p.m. Eastern.
Setting the scene: The Little Miami Panthers varsity football team (1-4, 1-3 ECC) returns to the friendly confines of LMHS Panther Stadium this Friday night for Homecoming 2025, after a Week 5 Eastern Cincinnati Conference road trip where they faced Warren Country rival Lebanon and fell 25-7 in the Route 48 Rivalry to the host Warriors.
Friday night, Little Miami finds themselves 1-0 at home in 2024 after knocking off ECC foe Walnut Hills 20-14 in a thriller where the Panthers hung on during the final play from scrimmage to claim first-year head coach Arryn Chenault's first career win. However, things don't get any easier this week for the host Panthers as they welcome the undefeated and current D-I, Region 4 leader Winton Woods into Morrow.
Scouting Report: Defensively, Winton Woods is led by elite edge-rusher Justin Hill, ranked as the No. 4 prospect in Ohio in the Class of 2025, and committed to the University of Alabama in July. Offensively, expect the Warriors to establish a run game early on with senior RB Tyler Gooding to control the clock and open up the passing game for junior QB Bryshawn Brown, who is 31-of-55 for 501 yards and six TDs this season.
ECC Top 10: Little Miami senior WR Mitchell Lyons is currently ranked No. 7 in the ECC with 317 receiving yards. Last week, Lyons had a season-high 136 yards in the Panthers loss at Lebanon. Primed for another big performance this week, Lyons' career-best game of 11 catches for 197 yards came at Turpin in Week 3 of 2023. Another Panther having a great 2024 season is WR/DB Cody Neltner. Neltner has chipped in seven receptions for 117 yards and has also added three TDs this season, and defensively he has great range in the backfield. Other Panthers to watch on defense this week are Tanner Meadows who is ranked No. 7 in the ECC with 37 total tackles, LB Eli Schoellman (No. 10) who has 34 stops, and senior DB Colin Duncan who has logged 30 tackles this season.
Homecoming Parade: The 2024 Homecoming Parade will take place on Thursday, Sept. 26 at 6 PM. The parade will begin at Mounts Park and travel to LMHS.
Homecoming Court: Homecoming Court introductions will occur at approximately 6:20 PM during football pregame activities.
Weather: Friday's big story is the potential for widespread rain as the remnants of Hurricane Helene move into the Ohio Valley. Rain may be heavy at times, but we will also have strong winds as the center of the storm nears. Our winds will be from the northeast at 20 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph, maybe stronger.
