MORROW — The Little Miami Lady Panthers varsity softball team has caught fire, winning eight of their last nine games, and will travel to Winton Woods tonight for a doubleheader scheduled at 5 and 6:30 p.m. The matchup presents a prime opportunity for the Lady Panthers to reach 10 wins in their last 11 contests. With the regular season winding down, a strong showing could also allow them to leapfrog Lebanon and claim the No. 3 spot in the ECC standings.
Little Miami is led by a strong senior class, highlighted by Faith Thompson in the circle. Thompson currently ranks No. 5 in the ECC with 79 strikeouts and has also been a force at the plate, leading the team with a .426 batting average. Fellow senior Bailey Thieme has also been dominant, sitting in the ECC Top 5 with seven wins on the season.
Offensively, Thompson's .426 average narrowly leads multi-sport standout Ella Cook, who is hitting .421 and continues to be a key contributor in the lineup.
The Lady Panthers are coming off an impressive 9-0 Senior Night victory over the visiting Turpin Spartans on Thursday evening. House photographer Doug McKinley captured the action in a full gallery from the game.
