MORROW -- Without a deep-dive into the archives, it is still a pretty safe bet to assume that the Little Miami boys' varsity soccer team has reached their highest inseason D-I state ranking
(No. 9 per MaxPreps) in school history. Currently, sitting at 9-1-1, the Panthers knocked off previously undefeated Badin 4-0 in a Saturday afternoon nonconference matinee at LMHS, and last night the Panthers hit the road and once again held an opponent scoreless in a 3-0 win over the host Monroe Hornets. The wins set up Little Miami with two approaching ECC matchups at home featuring Winton Woods (0-5-1) on Thursday and West Clermont (4-5-1) next Monday. Provided the Panthers play to their potential in those games, the latter part of the waning 2024 regular season will feature titanic battles with ECC rival Milford, and in their final game, a state Top 10 showdown with nonconference foe Springboro (No. 5; 9-1-0).
Through 11 tough opponents this season, Little Miami has been led by junior Noah Ross who resides at No. 2 in the ECC with 19 PTS and nine goals, and not far behind is senior Brandon Prough who currently sits No. 12 with 11 PTS and three goals. Also contributing offensively is senior Delandre Hutton who has chipped in seven assists. Defensively, senior goalkeeper Zach Stevens has logged 4.5 shutouts (No. 3 in the ECC) and accounted for 33 SVs (No. 6).
"This group of kids has been fun to coach this season," said second-year Panther head coach Andy Schur. "They show up ready to practice each day, and when its gametime they're prepared to execute. The formula we've installed with this group this season is starting to bear fruit, and we're excited to continue this ride into the postseason."
