MORROW -- With Board of Education approval at their Tuesday, February 28 meeting, Little Miami Schools made a major commitment to the continued growth and foundation of Panther Athletics with the nomination and approval of strength & conditioning coach/weight room supervisor Sean Sherman.
The Panthers posting for the new position created quite a buzz and garnered many highly qualified applicants. In the end, Coach Sherman's credentials and passion for strength and conditioning set him apart from the rest of the field. Sherman is a Springboro, OH native and graduate of Bishop Fenwick High School in Franklin where he was a multi-sport star for the Falcons.
Following a successful prep career at Fenwick, the son of a high school coach himself, moved on to Alliance, Ohio where he played both football and track & field for the Purple Raiders at the University of Mount Union.
At Mt. Union, Sherman was named a four-time NCAA shot put All-American and claimed top All-Ohio Athletic Conference accolades six times while participating in indoor and outdoor track and field en route to claiming multiple individual national championships between 2018 and 2020.
But Sherman's collection of postseason hardware didn't end there, the Purple Raider also excelled on the football field. Coach Sherman played football for The 13-time Division III national champions from 2016-2019. A mainstay on the offensive line, as a sophomore Sherman anchored a unit that paved the way for the Purple Raiders last National Championship following the 2017 season when they defeated Mary Hardin-Baylor (Texas) 12-0 in the Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl. And following his senior season in December of 2019, Sherman was named an Associate Press first-team All-American for his efforts. Additionally, Sherman earned top OAC all-conference accolades twice on the gridiron, while also being named the OAC's 2019 Ken Wable Award winner which is given annually to The Conference's top offensive lineman.
Coach Sherman graduated from Mount Union in May of 2020 with a degree in exercise science and he currently teaches physical education at the St. Columban School in Loveland. In addition, he is a NSCA certified strength and conditioning specialist, and also has a Level 1 USAW certificate. Sherman has also logged valuable time in the Weight Room as an intern for the University of Dayton and Mt. Union too. And lastly, Sherman recently worked as an assistant performance coach a the Renegade Warehouse in Dayton.

Following yesterday's approval, Sherman's appointment at LMHS will commence starting today, March 1. Coach Sherman's duties will include planning, operating, and managing the state-of-the-art Panther Performance Center at LMHS. In addition, he'll instruct student-athletes in the fundamental skills, strategies, and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of both individual and team success.
Coach Sherman's responsibilities will also include designing and implementing sport specific plans for all of Little Miami's 26 varsity sports, 77 teams, and nearly 2000 student-athlete participants. Congratulations and welcome Coach Sherman!
