MORROW -- Kickoff: 7 p.m. Eastern.Setting the scene: With 7:04 remaining in the second quarter Friday night at Mt. Healthy, freshman kicker Gunnar Hoffman logged the Panthers first points of the 2022 campaign with a chip shot FG from the right hash. Then, just before halftime, the Little Miami special teams delivered again with another Hoffman FG and sent the visitors into the intermission with a 6-0 advantage.
    However, the lead wouldn't last long, as Owl return specialist JayJay Etheridge took the opening kick of the second half 82-yards for a TD and catapulted the hosts to 7-6 advantage.
    Following a defensive stop and a turnover a drive later, the Little Miami offense took advantage of field position and responded through the air late in the third with a 22-yard TD pass from QB Grant Maupin to WR Jack Cooper off a play-action RPO. The score pushed the Panthers ahead 13-7 heading into the final stanza.
    In the fourth, Hoffman added another FG to lift Little Miami to a 16-7 cushion before Mt. Healthy responded by adding a late Jahmeir Spain rushing TD, and that's where the score would remain as Little Miami held on to outlast the host Owls 16-14 for the nonconference victory.
    On the night, the stout Little Miami defense led by senior DL Brentan Simmerman held Mt. Healthy to only 177 yards of total offense (94 passing and 83 rushing) in the Week 1 win.
    The Series: Little Miami and West Clermont have only met twice previously, and both contests were played in Clermont County. The Wolves claimed the inaugural matchup in 2020 by a score of 20-14, and Little Miami routed WC 37-13 in Week 9 last year. The Panthers are led by fourth-year head coach Caleb Jones who holds a 16-17 all-time record, and is also the only coach in LM history to lead the Panthers into the OHSAA postseason during each year of his leadership. Jones succeed current West Clermont head coach Nate Mahon who departed Little Miami for Hamilton following the 2018 season, prior to taking his current role with the Wolves. Last week, West Clermont fell to Hamilton 28-9.

Transaction fees apply for online sales and there are no refunds. Tickets will also be available for cash purchase at the entry gate. Cash purchases are $10 for all ages.
